I seemed to have more milk in one breast than the other. Can this happen? Is it possible to increase my milk production?

Hi Doreen,
It is quite common to have more milk in one breast than the other. It may be that your baby has a preference for the other breast & is suckling on one side more than the other or it may just be that the one side produces less than the other.Sometimes it can be due to the baby not attaching as well on the one breast. To try to increase the supply you can feed the baby more often from the side with the lower production or if the baby doesn't suckle as happily on that side you could try expressing milk after feeds. Normally, the more you remove the more you will make but sometimes you will continue to make less on one side than the other. This does not prevent the baby from obtaining sufficient milk. It may mean that one breast may be larger than the other for a period of time.
Any advice from other moms with this experience that may be helpful to Doreen
